A modern, virtually invisible orthodontic treatment

A straighter smile shouldn’t mean compromising your lifestyle or your confidence during treatment. Many adults and teens find themselves wanting to change their smile or feel self-conscious by crowded teeth or gaps, yet feel hesitant about the “metal mouth” look of traditional orthodontics. Invisalign® offers a sophisticated, near-invisible solution that aligns your teeth with total discretion in a matter of months.

At Hilltop Dental, we have transformed hundreds of smiles through Invisalign® , combining clinical precision with the latest digital scanning technology. Using our iTero 3D scanner, we can show you a digital simulation of your future smile before you even begin treatment, ensuring a predictable and collaborative journey.

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is a virtually invisible alternative to traditional braces, carried out by an accredited Invisalign® Dentist. Invisalign® consists of a clear, custom-made set of aligners which you wear from between 20 and 22 hours a day, and can be removed for eating, drinking and brushing your teeth.

Invisalign® clear aligners will gently straighten your teeth by moving them into their ideal positions. The process is efficient, comfortable, and tailored to your needs, giving you a straighter, more confident smile over weeks or months.

Why choose Invisalign® clear aligners?

Invisalign® clear aligners are designed for your comfort. Here are a few advantages of Invisalign® compared with traditional braces:

  • Discretion – Invisalign® aligners are made with an almost invisible design for a discreet treatment.
  • Dietary freedom – Unlike braces, Invisalign® clear aligners are removable for eating and cleaning, meaning no food restrictions – just make sure you take the aligners out while you eat or drink.
  • Comfort – Invisalign® aligners are designed for comfort and fit snugly, with no metal wires or brackets that can irritate the gums or soft tissue of mouth.
  • Time – Invisalign® treatment usually takes less time than traditional metal braces.
  • Hygiene – Invisalign® aligners (and retainers once your treatment is complete) are easy to clean and maintain.

Whether you’re considering teeth straightening for aesthetic or functional reasons, Invisalign® aligners at Hilltop Dental is premier choice for your teeth straightening journey. We provide expert clinical oversight and personalised care required to turn your vision of a perfect smile into a reality.

How can Invisalign® clear aligners help?

Invisalign® clear aligners may be used for mild to moderate alignment issues, including:

  • Crowded or crooked teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Overbite, underbite, or crossbite issues
  • Relapse after not wearing retainers from previous braces

For more complex orthodontic cases or severe bite concerns, traditional braces may be more effective in comparison with Invisalign®. Our dental experts will always recommend the best treatment plan tailored to your individual needs. They will evaluate whether you need to wear aligners or traditional braces as part of your overall dental treatment.

To get the best results, wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, brush your teeth after meals, and maintain excellent oral hygiene. It is recommended to remove your Invisalign® aligners only while eating or brushing.

The Invisalign® process

1. Initial consultation

Your Invisalign® treatment starts with a detailed consultation with our trained orthodontic team. We talk to you about your goals, then assess your teeth, bite, oral health, and dental history. We’ll take 3D diagnostic scans to capture a complete digital image of your smile.

2. Personalised treatment plan

We’ll use your 3D scans to create a detailed treatment plan before you start your Invisalign® journey. We’ll upload them and generate a digital simulation of how your teeth will move from start to finish. This preview allows you to see your potential results and make adjustments before treatment begins.

3. Creating your custom aligners

A bespoke series of clear, removable aligners is produced to fit your teeth perfectly. Each aligner gradually shifts your teeth into the desired position with precision and comfort.
Small, tooth-coloured attachments may be placed on selected teeth to help the aligners achieve optimal movement.

4. Teeth straightening

Once your first set of aligners is fitted, you’ll receive a brief demonstration on how to use, maintain, change and clean your aligners, including special cleaning tips. Our flexible appointment scheduling makes ongoing check-ups convenient and easy for every patient; follow-up visits every 6–12 weeks will ensure your progress stays on track.

FAQs

How often do I need to wear my aligners?

Aligners should be worn for 20–22 hours per day, removing them only for eating, drinking anything other than water, and brushing. Consistent wear is essential for predictable, timely results.

Will wearing Invisalign® affect my speech?

Some patients notice a slight lisp during the first few days of wearing aligners. This usually resolves quickly as the tongue adapts.

Can I eat and drink normally with Invisalign®?

Aligners must be removed for all meals and snacks, as well as for any drinks other than water. This helps prevent staining, warping and plaque build-up. After eating, teeth should be brushed before the aligners are put back in.

Can I get Invisalign®?

Invisalign® can treat a wide range of orthodontic concerns, including crowding, spacing, crossbites, overbites and underbites. Most adults and teenagers are suitable candidates, but a full dental assessment is required to confirm suitability.

How often will I need to visit the dentist during treatment?

Patients typically attend check-ups every 6–8 weeks. These visits allow the dentist to monitor progress, provide new aligners and make any necessary adjustments.

What is interproximal reduction (IPR)?

Interproximal reduction is a dental procedure where a tiny amount of enamel is removed from your teeth to ensure your braces and aligners can fit. This is sometimes done to create space for the realignment of crowded teeth. IPR can help achieve a better bite and a more aesthetic appearance, as it can reduce the likelihood of triangular gaps appearing after you’ve had treatment.
